Trump slams EU in aircraft dispute, pushes tariffs on $11 billion of imports
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Mr . trump said on Tuesday the us would impose tariffs on $11 billion of items from the European Union, each and every day after U.S. trade officials proposed a long list of EU products to pay attention included in a continuous aircraft dispute.
"The whole world Trade Organization finds that the Eu subsidies to Airbus has adversely impacted the usa, which can now put Tariffs on $11 Billion of EU products! The EU has had benefit for the U.S. on trade for many years. It will eventually soon stop!" Trump said inside of a post on Twitter.
The two sides are already stuck a years-long global trade dispute over mutual claims of illegal help to plane giants, Netherlands-based Airbus and U.S.-based Boeing (NYSE:BA), to find advantage on the planet jet business.
The U.S. Trade Representative on Monday announced the planned products targeted in retaliation for European aircraft subsidies, having a final list expected august.
Meanwhile, the EU has begun getting retaliate over Boeing subsidies, an EU official said .
The moves comes as the record subsidy dispute, which has been grinding its way from the WTO almost 25 years, reaches a climax, with all parties in arbitration to figure out how large any countermeasures.
